# How to use Config

> Export and import a .nhcfg backup on Config, or restore defaults. Open the menu with N, then open the Config tab.

Use **Config** to back up your settings, restore a backup, or reset to defaults. Open the menu with **N**, then open the **Config** tab.

## Backup

* **Export config** — Save a `.nhcfg` file with your current settings. Click **Save**, pick a path, then confirm.
* **Import config** — Load a `.nhcfg` file. Click **Open**, pick the file, then choose **Overwrite** (replace all settings) or **Merge** (keep current values for missing keys).

  Import changes your local settings. Export a backup first if you want a way to undo.

## Defaults

* **Restore defaults** — Reset settings to the product defaults. This does not remove your license.

  Config backups do not include your license key. Use **Account** for license status, **Plan**, and dashboard links.
